ZTW Mantis Slim G2 Series 32-bit ESCs combine the latest advancements in speed controller technology with a compact, lightweight design specifically crafted for F3P and sailplane applications.

ZTW speed controllers are one of the most widely used and trusted speed controller brands available on the market today. Not sure if I should be disappointed, or if I just snagged a defective one.

Long time user of ZTW hardware here.
I was intrigued, after being unable to find the original 12 amp mantis controllers, I had discovered that they were superseded by their slim counterparts.
After hearing this, and being surprised that neither of these controllers can handle the switching load needed to spin a motor at 60k, or more... I began hunting for an alternative.

This is when I discovered that ZTW released a second gen mantis series. I was immediately eager to get my hands on one.
To my surprise, these can indeed handle motors that get uncomfortably close to the 100k RPM range... Seemingly without issue. This is likely due to the new chipset that is used on these controllers.
With that being said, the one I purchased seems to have either been defective, or otherwise flawed in some fashion. After about 5 seconds of testing on the bench, the ESC failed... and seems to have taken the motor with it.

Seems that only half of one phase has failed.. one mosfet has seemingly blown closed, and is pumping DC into the cycle, causing any motor connected to it to squeal, run poorly, and overheat.

Perhaps it was just a manufacturing defect. This stuff can happen on occasion.
Strangely, none of my other first gen ZTW stuff has failed, to date, over the course of the ~9 years that I have owned any of them.

Perhaps a word of caution. Bench test these before running them, just to ensure that you've got a solid one... Before installing it in something of importance.
