DJI AP100 Parachute System for Matrice 400

Add an additional layer of operational safety to your DJI Matrice 400 with the DJI AP100 Parachute System. Designed specifically for the Matrice 400, the AP100 is an integrated emergency recovery system built to help reduce descent speed and mitigate the risk of damage to the aircraft, payload, property, and people on the ground during a critical in-flight emergency.

The AP100 supports both automatic and manual deployment and uses an independent flight control system, onboard sensors, and redundant communication architecture to continuously monitor aircraft status. If abnormal flight attitude or speed is detected, the system can automatically initiate motor shutdown and parachute deployment in 600 milliseconds or less. Operators can also manually deploy the parachute through DJI Pilot 2.

Once deployed at an effective altitude of at least 30 meters, the AP100 is designed to stabilize the Matrice 400 to a descent speed of 5 m/s or less under DJI's specified test conditions. Its independent backup power system allows the parachute to continue monitoring the aircraft even if primary aircraft power or communication is compromised.

Weighing approximately 935 g, the rear-mounted AP100 preserves the Matrice 400's maximum supported takeoff weight of 15.8 kg while having an estimated flight-time impact of approximately six minutes. Its rear-mounted configuration also avoids interfering with battery changes and payload installation, and the Matrice 400 can remain stored in its carrying case with the parachute attached.

Built for demanding enterprise operations, the AP100 carries an IP55 ingress protection rating and operates in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 50°C (-4°F to 122°F). This makes it well suited for public safety, inspection, mapping, infrastructure, emergency response, and other mission-critical Matrice 400 operations.

Key Features

  • Designed specifically for the DJI Matrice 400
  • Automatic and manual parachute deployment
  • Motor termination and deployment response of ≤ 600 ms
  • Stabilized descent speed of ≤ 5 m/s
  • Effective deployment altitude of ≥ 30 m
  • Independent flight control, sensors, and backup power
  • Approx. 935 g system weight
  • Supports Matrice 400 takeoff weights up to 15.8 kg
  • IP55-rated for demanding operating environments
  • Operating temperature range of -4°F to 122°F
  • Rear-mounted design minimizes interference with payloads and battery changes
  • Aircraft can remain in the Matrice 400 carrying case with the parachute installed
  • Supports applicable EASA C5 / UK CAA UK5 operational safety requirements when installed on an existing Matrice 400

For public safety agencies, inspection teams, mapping professionals, and enterprise operators flying valuable payloads or operating around critical infrastructure, the DJI AP100 provides an additional level of protection designed specifically around the Matrice 400 platform.

Important: The AP100 is a supplementary safety system and does not eliminate all risks associated with drone operations. After deployment, the parachute system must be replaced. DJI also recommends retiring and replacing the system three years after activation.
